The next stop on our trip was Greece! I had been wanting to visit Greece, but it was too hard expensive to get to from Spain, so my parents included Greece in our big trip (thanks for the awesome trip, Dad!!!). We flew to Heraklion, Crete, where we spent a night. The next morning, we visited the Palace of Knossos (built around 1700 BCE) and Zeus’ supposed birthplace, the Dikteon Cave. Then we drove through the incredibly windy roads almost as far as the road would take us to Kato Zakros, a tiny, beach town on the far eastern end of the island. We spent 4 nights there hiking, lounging on the beach, and eating Greek salads. Next, we flew to Athens, where we spent two busy days exploring the city and its’ ancient ruins.
